The Forestry Sector Council has partnered with SkillsPass to provide forestry employers, employees, and job seekers to participate in online training opportunities and certifications at no cost. As a SkillsPass partner, Forestry Sector Council is opening the platform up for the forestry industry in Nova Scotia – thanks to funding support from the Department of Labour and Advanced Education.

SkillsPass is a training platform that offers a library of self-directed online courses, training, and webinars specific to our industry. Employees and job seekers can develop the necessary skills to succeed in today’s workforce and upgrade their skills to increase their value to their employer and gain access to new opportunities within the sector.

FSS saves lives and reduces injuries, as well as maintaining compliance with regulatory bodies. They offer online courses in WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods, as well as a wide variety of courses in the classroom.



High-Performance Logging is an initiative of the Canadian Woodlands Forum and BioApplied, aimed at providing solutions for improving operational efficiency and business performance in today’s forestry operations.


Forestry machine operator Program

The forestry machine operator training program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions as mechanized forest equipment operators. Following a comprehensive application and evaluation process, successful students will participate in three key phases over the course of the 25-week program.
