The Forestry Sector Council is currently working on gathering LMI data to share with the industry – Check out our LMI page for data and information.

What are the benefits of working in the forestry sector?

You get to spend every day working outside and surrounded by nature learning to manage, conserve and enhance Nova Scotia’s forests. You can leave your job at the end of the day knowing that the work that you do will benefit future generations. The work is diverse, meaning there are a variety of jobs within the industry, from tree planting to harvesting to trucking there are options for everyone.

What education or skillset do I need to qualify for a position?

There are a range of opportunities within the industry from labor to highly skilled positions, the level of education is dependent on the job. FSC is currently developing a career pathway for forestry jobs which will provide information on education and training required for different forestry careers.
